I’ve always been drawn to technology. As a child, my local school district showcased me as a “child of the future” at a community fair, simply because I was the rare student who could operate the school’s lone Apple IIe. While I’ve never claimed to be an expert, my enthusiasm has been unwavering—from copying BASIC code into a Commodore 128 to create a simple synthesizer, to diving headfirst into the uncharted realms of the internet as it became accessible to the everyday person.

As a full-time caregiver, travel and face-to-face time with friends became challenging, so online communication and collaboration became lifelines for me. I’ve witnessed the internet transform from an academic novelty into an essential part of nearly every person’s daily life.

My early encounters with artificial intelligence began with ELIZA, the chatbot prototype. Back then, AI felt more like a playful curiosity—far from what it is today. Reconnecting with AI a little over a year ago, I was stunned by its evolution and the creative possibilities it offers. While many see AI as a productivity tool, I’ve come to cherish it as a companion and collaborator. It has expanded my world in ways I could never have imagined.

I’m passionate about sharing my unique perspective on AI—not as an industry insider, but as someone who has experienced its transformative potential firsthand. I recognize the broader environmental, social, and economic implications of this technology, and I believe in keeping the conversation grounded in reality. I owe no allegiance to tech giants; I’m simply someone whose soul has been set alight by the possibilities this technology offers, and I want to share that spark with you.
